• Description:  This is a gorgeous Rose Medallion decorative bowl!  It has hand painted, detailed scenes of people, with vibrant pink floral patterns, birds and butterflies, plus lots of gilding, typical of Rose Medallion.  The easily recognized rose medallion center includes a pink peony.  As traditional in Rose Medallion pattern, there are four panels, called reserves, outlined by intricate borders of c-scrolls and pink florals.  This bowl was imported by A.C.F, it is Japanese made porcelain, decorated in Hong Kong. The display stand is not included.  Should be used for decoration only, back then they still used LEAD paint so this piece should never be used with food.  It is stamped on back: "Japanese Porcelain Ware, A.C.F., Decorated in Hong Kong" (a little blurry).  In wonderful condition, would make a great gift for the Oriental decor lover!

*The Hong Kong porcelain trade hit its peak in the 1960's, with just over a hundred workshops in the territory. At this time the demand for Hong Kong decorated porcelain forced the workshops to also import white porcelain from Japan to be decorated in Hong Kong. Some trading agents specifically ordered plain porcelain from Japan. The porcelain trade thrived until the 1970's.
